Musical Event_ Landon Jones

 

I attended the Brass Studios Solo Recital. I’m no stranger to either the trumpet or piano as I listened to them quite frequently when I played in the band back in high school. I also kind of knew what to expect to hear when I saw the word “sonata”, but nevertheless I was still taken aback by the performance. My favorite piece was definitely Sonata for Trumpet and Piano: I. With strength and vigor. The song starts off very regal and majestic then transitions into something that sounds a bit more somber towards the middle. It then returns into a much more imposing sound as both the trumpet and piano increase in volume and force.
