Kidding Official Trailer (2018)
When the trailer first begins playing, I hear the calm voice of a man speaking while footage of puppets and children sitting and watching something play on the screen. As I watch, I realize that the voice I hear is a man, or Jim Carry--speaking to the children watching from a distance. To me, it seems as if Jim Carry is playing the role of a man who acts as a children's TV show star--sending powerful messages to growing minds through the use of puppets and playful sets. In such a career, I can imagine how filtered everything you say or do has to be because you are influencing the minds of children; you take on this alternate persona and have to give off positive energy regardless of what you may feel internally--and through the other scenes that are shown in the trailer, it seems that Jim Carry's character is experiencing a lot "behind the scenes" such as a possible divorce. As the trailer continues on, I hear the words "You are not a real person. You are a man in a box; you're a trusted brand. No one sees a man.", and I think this is indicative of what Carry's character has to go through because regardless of what he may have going on in his personal life--the people watching him don't view him as a person; he is simply entertainment, and the show must go on. Though the character in this show literally has to "put on a new face" to his audience to hide his personal troubles, I feel as though we all have to do this to a certain extent in life. Despite the difficult things that we go through at times, we have to keep pushing forward; and sometimes that means pretending to be okay.
