This week, I am responding to The Magic of Sound by Zimoun. This video features a collection of sound installations by the artist Zimoun. These installations are often staged in site-specific, immersive spaces where the architecture is dedicated solely to the installation and sound. I think, from the standpoint of a student, that the most intriguing and inspirational thing about Zimoun's work is his use of common, affordable, and easily-obtainable objects. Zimoun uses a lot of cardboard, as well as objects that can be found at any home improvement retailer. His work is often organized in a clean, neat fashion. He likes arranging his crafted objects into precise rows. I think this is especially interesting since his work has an almost chaotic and irregular motion and sound.
