Week 11 Response_Anna Forbes

I chose to respond to "Faceshopping"-SOPHIE. I liked that this was one of the few sound art videos found that focused more on layering sound on top of an abstract image, rather than sound art installation. To me, this video relates better to what we are doing in our sound art project. I appreciated how the image related very well to the meaning of the sound/song. The image shows an abstracted illustration of a mouth, with a dark split down the middle, as if someone cut the mouth in half and split it apart. The song mentions "face shopping," which I relate to Photoshopping your face or getting plastic surgery. I think the artist wanted to capture how several people feel the need to Photoshop their images or get surgery to fit in with society's current interpretation of beauty.
