Week 10_Response_Sam Glover

I chose to write about Yasuaki Shimizu's Sound Installation for Robot Garden.

I really enjoyed this installation. It focused mainly on sound, but the supplemental images really helped tie the piece together. I personally feel that the most interesting part was how varied the sounds were. The sounds would change to different tones. It almost felt like an emotional experience, as each composition changed I felt as if my mood changed as well. The more upbeat sequences made me feel happy, others were quieter and more melancholy. I ultimately chose to respond to this piece because I heard unifying sounds that brought each composition together and it inspired me for my whole piece. My idea is to record the sounds of my life, and then layer everything together with different chords from my keyboard.
