Week_7_Video_Response_Raven_Ross
For this week's video response I chose, Gary Hill's Primarily Speaking. This video made me think about the answers to the question he was asking. The video's editing makes the video another type of "trippy." The majority of the video is viewed through two windows and a still background. The background is still the whole video the only movement is within those two holes. I think the video is layered because of how everything is positioned. The footage also matches what he is saying to give it some perspective. The video ends on a frozen screen like a tv losing signal, and I like this because once the video ended, I was still searching for answers.

It was very colorful, and many of the senses seemed to be assaulted to intentionally confuse. And I had trouble keeping up with some of the things stated, as it was somewhat meandering at times.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the video did come off as "trippy" in a way with the bright bars of color and two panels of moving images layered over. The imagery didn't bother me so much on its own; but paired with the audio, it was uncomfortable to watch. The audio was frustrating to me because of the deep auto-tune sound in the beginning with the transition into a monotone voice. I would call it what some would define as "ear blood". However, I think your take on what the speaker was saying in reference to the imagery seen in the video is interesting; but I honestly couldn't focus on what he was saying enough to relate. Between the bright colors and bland voice, it kept causing me to tune everything except the moving images out.
