God Is Design - Adel Abdessemed

This video is a black and white animation of various shapes and patterns coming together to form other shapes and patterns—before breaking apart to essentially form even more variations of shapes and patterns. Watching the video, in my opinion, is like being in a trance;  I often found my mind drifting away as I watched everything shift around the screen. The video uses both geometric and organic shapes—sometimes with one form turning into the other; and in some frames, the shapes appear to mimic living cells. Because the title of the video is “God Is Design”, I am lead to interpret that life itself is design in the way that everything is created. Everything around us, including ourselves is made up of something smaller. We are made of cells, plants are made of cells, and things are made up of atoms; all of these smaller things come together to create other things that will someday break apart and start over, and this is considered design.
