The movie Parasite is a mystery/thriller that involves an Asian family and the mystery that they withhold. I have yet to see this movie but I have already watched multiple reviewers give their opinions on this movie and each one of them say this movie deserved all four of their rewards at the 92nd Academy Awards of Best Pictures, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film. The movie needs to be promoted for what it is which is what the trailer did perfectly. First we're introduced to a sad scenario with a random family to setup the tone for the trailer. The tone shifts to two men who are coming up with a plan and sets the tone to suspense Then the next few scenes shown are scenes of everyday life of a family in China. Yeah they're weird but what family isn't weird to people outside their immediate family. The tone then shifts to an identity fraud plot with subplots about their family issues. The tone stays consistent to almost resemble a heist movie while navigating around this family without being detected as frauds. The tone then suddenly changes fast paced thriller consisting of scenes with pure panic, suspense, family routines with interesting and creative camera angles. What really needs to be appreciated in this trailer is the amount of cuts put together to match with the music being played. Each cut was chosen and placed perfectly almost as if the editor new how the audience would react to the trailer based on the order each cut was played. The trailer then ends with a single splatter of jelly on some bread in the form of blood. Or it could actually be blood and something nefarious going on in the family behind the scenes. You'll just have to watch the movie and find out.
