Week 7 Response_ Annecia Thompson

 

This week, I watched The Machinist’s Lament. I have to admit, out of a lot of the videos that I have watched, this one bother stumped me and keep be intrigued in some sense. At the beginning, watching the motions of the dancing people on screen alongside the dialogue the narrator helped me to understand what was going on. However, that sense of security was quickly taken away when the scene suddenly changed to two women rubbing a ball alongside strangely erotic sounds. Though, I can get as the video went on it still was about parts and machinery, I found the randomness to put me through a loop, even if it somehow connected back to the main point in one fashion or another. In a way, it feels like the chaotic visuals on the screen contrasts dramatically with the calm female narrator as she explains different concepts of machines and such to us.
