Week 7 Response: Anna Forbes
I chose to respond to “Primarily Speaking.” I found this video to be a little creepy/disturbing overall. I appreciated the use of color/collage with the short clips of adventurous scenes, but the audio/voiceover did ruin it for me. However, I thought the collage technique over the colorful background was successful and interesting. I think the artist was trying to paint a picture of the voiceover for the viewer. The content of the voiceover did relate to the video well; the idea of being adventurous and putting yourself out there was shown. I just think that near the end, the audio was more repelling than intriguing. Perhaps this was the artist’s intention, to make the viewer very uncomfortable.
I agree with you on this it defiantly came off with a creepy vibe as well as the voice over matching the video over all it reminded me of a past video that was trying hard to communicate with the viewer.
ReplyDeleteI agree! The overall tone of the video was rather odd, and the narrator didn't help with that feeling either. However, I definitely don't think I made the connection between the audio and the visuals.
