Week 6_Response_Sam Glover

I chose to respond to God is Design Video (2005) by Adel Abdessemed.

In this video, Abdessemed uses an abstraction of illustrated shapes to create an animated video. The title, "God is Design" is possibly a reference to the correlation between the unpredictable fluidity of this video, much like the unpredictability of nature. Different shapes come together to make other shapes, and then disappear in a chaotic swirl in before the viewer's eyes. I also noticed that there are references to cultural icons in this video. For example, at 0:45 there is a Star of David. There are also many Mandalas within this video. In an abstract way, I believe this video aims to connect different people of different backgrounds and spiritualities through something such as art, design, and video.
