Week 3 _ Response _ Landon Jones

 For this week's response, I chose to watch the “Walking in an Exaggerated Manner around the Perimeter of a Square” video by Bruce Nauman. The video was recorded in one continuous shot. The subject of the video consists of a man doing exactly what the title implies. I will say that I found the content of the video rather interesting, but that is only based on the assumption that the video was meant to symbolize something. The man took great care in following the perimeter of the square; he followed along the line heel-to-toe and even rounded corners as sharply as possible. He took each step slowly and methodically, all the while taking each of those steps with extreme exaggeration. He made a total of 4 laps going forwards, backwards and then in reverse order. I felt that the message I was meant to take away from this was that people want to follow the path that society has laid out before them as carefully as possible. They take extreme care in how they present themselves and have educated themselves on what is expected of them, forwards and backwards.
