Week 2_Response_Sam Glover

For this assignment, I chose Earthly Delights by Casey Reas.

I would classify this work as an experimental new media video. The video doesn't seem to follow any specific plot and lacks the inclusion of characters. Instead, I noticed the focus of this video leaned towards form, rhythm, and color. The forms are biomorphic, with a natural, almost cell-like quality. I can picture viewing these images under a microscope. The pacing between frames starts slow, then rapidly picks up. The rhythm of the slides is unpredictable, and I equate this to the natural quality of the shapes. Nature can be unpredictable and is ever-changing. I think that it's interesting to combine something that feels so natural with the technology that goes into making this video. It feels like a co-existence between the natural and the man-made.
