Progress Check for Project 1: One-Shot

In the screenshot below, I began playing with a title sequence. I figured out how to insert text layers and how to change things, such as the typeface, color, and size. During this sequence, I wanted one of my layered sounds to be audible throughout the process, while the other audio (and later, video clips) slowly begun to fade in.
In the following screenshot, I wanted to document my process for layering. I've been experimenting with the number of clips/audios I choose to layer. I want everything to feel consistent, so I've been keeping the clips that I overlay to around 30% opacity, but I have been experimenting with the blending modes from clip to clip, choosing what best fits on a clip-to-clip basis.

Finally, this screenshot shows the most complicated part of my process so far: getting every audio clip to end simultaneously with the visuals. I was experimenting with a royalty-free song but ran into the issue that the music was much longer than the 2-minute video. I had to go through and use the razor blade tool to clip sections out of the song, piece everything back together, and still make it sound coherent. It was a lot of work, and at the end of the day, I'm still deciding whether or not the music adds or takes away from my video.

8/31 - Progress Check 2
I went ahead and discarded the "graphics" layer and replaced it with a Title screen. I did some subtle changes from there, like changing the typeface from Nimbus Sans to Futura PT and, eventually, adding my name in another layer.
I think one of the most difficult challenges for me was trying to edit in this blinker sound effect, which is the bottom audio. I had to trim, clip, paste, and repeat in order to lengthen out the sound to fit my needs. It was really hard to clip and piece together the blinker to sound seamless, but after awhile I think I got it! Since this video depends so strongly on the feeling you get while driving alone at night, I really wanted to enhance the audio with this blinker noise. The audio files I used were a combination of audio recordings I did, and free-use sound effects from the internet.
And finally, I decided to use clips from the same video in the beginning and the end to tie the whole piece together. The video clip shown above is an old family video of my mom pushing me on the swing, and other family videos are scattered throughout the video. My goal was to create a feeling of homesickness; to replicate the feeling of driving around in a town that isn't your home.
